What is DenCity?

DenCity is a crowd counting hand signal sensor prototype that aims to provide real-time crowd information in premises with the same entrance and exit doorways. It creates a sensorial experience by displaying the color density level with the use of LED pins and the sounds of the buzzer.

Anatomy of DenCity

The sensor prototype makes use of the following components: Arduino Uno R3, 16x2 LCD, Relay Module, 9v battery with battery clip, IR sensors, breadboard, resistors,

LED pins, Piezo buzzer, and wires.

Presents current crowd information, namely, the number of visitors and crowd density levels in an establishment with accuracy and efficiency, while maintaining anonymity.

Sensorial Experience

Provides a user-friendly experience through yielding visual and auditory indicators, in the form of LED pins and the Piezo buzzer, which indicate the area’s crowd density levels.

Agent of Public Awareness and Safety

Promotes safety in commercial or non-commercial spaces through monitoring crowd flow, and preventing overcrowding, and informing visitors of relevant crowd information.​
